Unfortunate my incredibly intelligent, yet ill-tempered co-author jumped the gun on me, but no matter. The name of the blog is Apprentices of Paine. Pretty self-explanatory, right? No? Okay, well us being high school students and all, we're expected to be havoc wreaking, trouble making, naive children. Well, one thing you will learn about us is that preconceived notions are almost always incorrect notions.
My name is Ryan Rash and my co-author is Christopher Sepulveda. We both share an immense interest in writing but what sets us apart from kids our age is that we write about what matters. As we see things occurring in our society, we immediately think "what could be done to fix that?" Thomas Paine was indeed a very similar thinker in the 18th century. He saw the tyrannic oppression that was being tolerated in colonial America andmade it his mission to change their mindset with his pen. His pamphlet, Common Sense, was one of the key factors in igniting the American Revolution. Although Chris and I do not wish to launch a revolt on our current governing body, we wish to open up the minds of the American people to see things from a blunt, straightforward point of view.
From now on, we will be discussing topics that pose a striking need to American life. Sure we will be strong-willed and somewhat pushy but that is what our purpose is. Personally, I'm sick and tired of seeing true beliefs take a backseat to political correctness. On the contrary, we solemnly declare to listen purposefully to the opposing view. Our only request is that you either go hard or go home. Choosing to refute our claims is entirely fine, but if you do so, do so in a way which to attempt to change our minds. Our country needs to be reevaluated and dissected so that we can ensure a bright future.
Sincerely, Cate Blanchette
